What is with all of these new people today?
But no, it's not an April Fools Day joke.it's real
And I don't want it.
Any phone that calls itself an "iPhone Killer" is a joke.

No kidding, the statement doesn't even need to be said, considering it is high-speed internet capable when the iPhone is not.
On a side note, isn't this the phone that got Samsung all pissed off at Mobiledia in the first place? From what I recall, the specs that Mobiledia guessed at were practically spot on, including the 2mp camera instead of the 5mp that Europes model got.

You're right. Sprint considers it a competitor not a "killer". However this to me is more a killer than a competitor. This phone has many features the iPhone does not (3G, GPS, PictureMail, TV) so IMO there is no comparison. I am an iPhone owner and while its a great phone, its lacking alot of the features consumer mobile users like and want.

Thing is, the iPhone was meant for a segment that never really materialized that way that Apple expected. It's not technically a smart phone, so Apple was looking to make a phone directed at mediacentric phone users. However it's lack of certain features and high-cost left many folks feeling that a smart phone was a better value.

No, this phone doesn't blow the iPhone away - yes, iPhone lacks 3G (until the new one comes out in June), but the beauty of the iPhone is the way you can really develop for it.no phone comes close to the ability to mod the iPhone - whether through jailbreak (which I love, btw) or through Apple's new SDK, plus with constant firmware updates, it's better than anything else coming out - except the 3G iPhone that will be being announced in June, and will probably be released a on the anniversary of the first iPhone too.

This phone is really gonna put apple on thier toes. it has alot of features iphone doesn't have. Of course the att robot is going to knock it. face it, this phone blows iphone out of the water. it is far superior. especially on the data side. at least now i know why they did the cease and desist letter. they wanted this kept secret for a reason. it was only a matter of time before a phone like this came out. apple does not belong in the wireless industry.

Good. I hope all the carriers develop phones that blow iphone away. Apple doesn't belong in the wireless industry.

Anyone who wishes to belongs in the wireless business. If they fail that is on them, if they succeed then they have raised the bar, allowing us to have better products. THAT is the American way.

Look at my previous post, it still stands. No it doesn't. apple fell on it's face, they should have been destroyed as a company. but they got a free bail out. if every company was allowed to do this could you imagine what our marketplace would be like? disaster.

I'm not a fanboy, I don't own a single Apple product, but that does not mean they have no place in the market. Apple is making a large amount of money at this point in time, many of the companies in this country have been bailed out at one point or another. If it wasn't for competition products would not get any better. Can you imagine being stuck with Winblows ME just because there was no competition pushing them to make improvements. And if Apple has pushed the current lineup of cell phone manufacturers to make improvements on their phones then that is awesome for us. Would I own an Apple phone, at this time I would say no, but that doesn't mean in the future they won't have something that I might like to have. And if Apple-inspired improvements find there way into a new nonApple phone that I buy, that only makes me a winner, because of Apple. Let them stay, it can't hurt me for them to be here.

There are three pages of posts here and nobody has commented about what browser the Samsung phone uses. The phone in my pocket has EV-DO but can't come anywhere close to the iphone because it doesn't have the excellent iphone/webkit browser.
Apparently, the Instinct's web browser isn't great.
Likewise, the LG Vu browser is not impressive.
None of these phones will touch the iPhone in utility until they include a web browser as good as Mobile Opera, Mobile Safari / Webkit.

That's why there are wonderful third party apps like opera mini. the major downfall of the iphone is no third party apps

And another major downfall is the lack of 3g data, who cares how good the browser is if you are using a dial-up speed network.

Because McGirk it's "optimized" Edge has come a long way since the iPhone came out - and when HSPA+ comes out (around the same time as the new 3g iPhone) it will really be a world of hurt with speeds.

HSDPA is fast but barely faster than current evdo speeds. and evdo can still be upgraded to evdo rev b which is really fast, and in fact i think sprint should go that way instead of wimax. it would be massively cheaper and as fast as thier current backbone can support. att's main problem with thier hsdpa is if thier dsl service is any sign of thier current backbone they are going to need massive upgrading that would take years to upgrade just to be able to meet the last mile speeds that hsdpa can promise. at first it will work great, but as more and more subscribers use the system it will be bogged down, due to thier weak backbone servers. and the scary part is what will att charge for this service.

Certainly the new iPhone will be high-speed capable at some point, although early adopters will feel like they got the shaft when it is released, until they see the lack of coverage At&t's high speed data actually covers. One thing I'll say for Sprint, their data coverage is really good, of course they ignored their customer service to get it that way.

Which will inevitably lead to the data network being improved for the iPhone users, which will benefit everyone else as well. What's with the dicussion of other carriers in the wrong sub-cats anyways?
