Sprint Offers Free Access to MySpace Mobile

Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:49 am

MySpace today launched MySpace Mobile on Sprint phones, allowing subscribers a fast track to their profiles on their phones.

MySpace has partnered with Sprint to provide customers direct access to MySpace Mobile's tool set, including the ability to edit MySpace profiles, view and add friends, post blogs and bulletins, send and receive MySpace messages. The new version of MySpace Mobile features a rich graphical design, a revamped email interface and other new features.

"Mobile is the next generation of social networking," said Brandon Lucas, senior director of mobile business development for MySpace. "Our partnership with Sprint makes it easier and faster for customers to get the most out of MySpace when they're on the go."

To access MySpace Mobile on Sprint, customers can open the Web on their phone, select Messaging and click on the MySpace Mobile link to get instant access to their profile.

So, will their be no data charge's for customers who don't have Sprint Vision. They can just go on their, and get charged nothing on their next bill?

I work as a sprint dealer and sad to say that the actual service is not provided for free but the program is. Using the program will result in data charges which is pretty lame of them, but it is using the data services of there network.

Anyone who is that interested in MySpace Mobil, will likely already have a data package.

Umm k. I'm not talking about myself. I'm talking about my sister thou. And she's like 14, and doesn't and can't have a job. So, its not like she can just be like mama I want internet on her phone, and she gonna jump head over hills to get it for her. That's why I asked. Cause she has internet as pay as you go, and when the news said free I thought it was like free data to access Myspae Mobile.

I think that would be a great move on sprint part to allow free access to all to myspace mobile, but then myspace would have to pay sprint for the data charges, which really do cost sprint very, very little, and in turn myspace would create forced ads to watch nearly everytime you clicked on something. I know its a small price to pay for free, but I think it would then cause a hassle on those with data plans who are being hit in the face with 1 million extra ads. So, you can't please everyone, so they decided to go with data charging even though they did think about the free-for-all options.

Now, pay as you go, for data, is not worth it unless you check the weather once a month. If she starts using the data for myspace it will add up quickly because it is a larger package stream that gets downloaded. After using it for 15 minutes you would be paying less on an internet plan. Maybe you should help her try and convince her mother by showing the mom the benefits of having the data plans that would relate to her and not her daughter and then when she starts to like it, say hey, that would be great for her also, and you guys could get it together and all the world will be better. It would be worth a try.

A 14 year old can wait until she get's home from school to check her MySpace page. The point of a mobile phone for a young teenager is for the parents to have a tool to help keep track of her, not for her to keep track of all of her online buddies.

Whatever. Not caring anymore. Keep it movin icon_arrow.gif . I don't have Sprint, and I have access to Myspace so its not my problem. I just didn't see why they say free access to Myspace Mobile when its really kind of not.

If you don't have to pay to access MySpace it is free. That doesn't mean the internet is free. You access MySpace from your home computer do you not? Don't you have to pay for internet at home? Doesn't change the fact that access to MySpace is free does it?

Couldn't have said it better myself!
