In order to provide a more consistent experience across its range of differing technologies, Sprint will be building a single core infrastructure for all its networks. Sprint plans to use a common optical backbone, IP network, cell-site infrastructure, and IMS to bind its CDMA, iDEN and WiMax networks together. Sprint is also planning to allow third party software developers access to the platform through APIs. This will give the developers better insight into customer behavior and allow them to better customize their own services. Sprint did not provide a time frame on when this platform will be built.
