The Apple iPhone is one of the most desirable phones ever, with its fancy multi-touch display and Cover Flow iPod interface, but it's not the be all and end all. If you're looking for something to get you over your Apple pangs -- and particularly if you're looking for specific features that the iPhone snubs, such as a Qwerty keyboard, HSDPA (3.5G) connectivity or stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) -- check out these handsets.
One of the best is the LG KU990 Viewty. It has a touchscreen interface and a 5-megapixel camera that takes some impressive shots, along with fun slow-motion videos. The Web browser is good enough to rival the iPhone's, and it's 3G, so you can surf faster too.
The HTC TyTN II is a Windows Mobile 6 handset with a touchscreen. It gives you access to your work emails over a Microsoft Exchange Server and even has GPS with some handy sa- nav software. There's a Qwerty keypad and the screen flips up, so you can use it like a mini-laptop on the train.
Windows Mobile and fashion-centric phones aside, if it's features you're after, the Nokia N95 will definitely impress you. Not only do you get a 5-megapixel camera, an MP3 player and GPS satellite-navigation system, but it also boasts Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity, for fast on-the-go access to the Internet.
Last but not least is the BlackBerry Curve 8300. This is one of RIM's most consumer-friendly mobiles yet, with a 2-megapixel camera and flash and a media player. It has all the easy-to-use email features you'd expect from a BlackBerry, including a Qwerty keypad.

| Review summary | The N95 almost justifies its hefty price-tag for the sat-nav alone. Despite a few bugs, Nokia's handset succeeds as phone, camera, media player, PDA and above all personal navigator. If we had to rescue just one device from a burning house, it would be the N95 Read full review |
The Curve hasn't decided whether it's a business device that can let its hair down, or a consumer phone that can get away with wearing a suit. It has a stunning screen and a top keyboard for emailing, but power users will find it slow and limited where it counts Read full review |
HTC has once again produced a feature-packed Windows Mobile handset that delivers in almost every department. If you need instant access to email and prefer using a Qwerty keypad over a standard mobile phone one, the TyTN II might be the phone for you Read full review |
This is one of LG's best phones yet. If you're looking for a good camera phone the LG Viewty is definitely worth checking out. From the vibrating touchscreen interface to the YouTube video capabilities and photo-editing app, we liked what it had to offer and think you will too Read full review |
