Music Artists – Making music available through ringtones and calltones

Over the past few weeks artists have begun to make their music available as a ringtone, mastertone or calltone through carriers and their recording companies.

Virgin Mobile USA and Virgin Records announce that some Virgin record labels will now be available as ringtones exclusively to Virgin Mobile’s members of the “First Dibs” program.

US Carrier Sprint organized a deal with Pearl Jam to make the first single of their new album available as a ringtone through the website Fanscape.

It’s not just the new artists and songs that are being promoted through ringtones, original hits from the past are also emerging. Abba original hit songs are being released as hit ringtones by Universal Music Mobile with approval from the song writers. The ringtone releases include “Dancing Queen” ringtone, “Mama Mia” ringtone, “Waterloo” ringtone, “Money, Money, Money” ringtone and others.
